World Chocolate Day Celebration Showcases the Rich Heritage of Balinese Cacao

Interactive chocolate workshop at Oswego Dining brings guests closer to Bali’s cacao craftsmanship through education, tasting experiences, and culinary creativity.

BALI, Indonesia – 5 July 2026 – In celebration of World Chocolate Day, Oswego Dining, in collaboration with Mason Chocolates, hosted The Art of Balinese Cacao, an immersive chocolate workshop designed to introduce guests to the rich heritage and craftsmanship behind locally sourced Balinese cacao.

Held at Oswego Grass, the experience combined hands-on chocolate making, guided tasting sessions, and curated chocolate-inspired desserts and beverages, offering participants an opportunity to explore the journey of cacao—from bean to finished chocolate—while gaining a deeper appreciation for one of Bali’s distinctive agricultural products.

The event welcomed both in-house and external guests, reflecting a growing interest in experiential dining that combines culinary exploration with educational storytelling. Throughout the afternoon, participants learned about cacao cultivation, chocolate varieties, production techniques, and the characteristics that make Balinese cacao unique.

Led by the team from Mason Chocolates, the workshop highlighted the craftsmanship involved in transforming raw cacao into artisanal chocolate while encouraging guests to discover the cultural and agricultural value behind every chocolate creation.

In addition to the educational session, guests enjoyed a selection of chocolate-themed desserts and beverages specially prepared for the occasion, creating a multi-sensory culinary experience inspired by World Chocolate Day. Each participant also received a curated chocolate gift as a keepsake from the event.

“This event reflects our commitment to creating meaningful dining experiences that celebrate local ingredients while connecting guests with the stories behind them. Through our collaboration with Mason Chocolates, we hope to inspire greater appreciation for Balinese cacao and the artisans who continue to elevate its quality and reputation”, said Devi Maharani, Resort Manager, Impiana Private Villas Seminyak / Oswego Bali.

As experiential culinary tourism continues to grow, collaborations between hospitality venues and local artisan producers are becoming increasingly important in showcasing regional food heritage. Events such as The Art of Balinese Cacao demonstrate how hospitality experiences can go beyond dining by providing educational and cultural value for both local communities and visitors.

Oswego Dining and Mason Chocolates hope that initiatives like this will encourage broader appreciation for locally produced cacao while fostering conversations about sustainable sourcing, craftsmanship, and Bali’s evolving culinary identity.
